Ball Machine
A Tennis Ball machine used a ball vertically into the air from a height of two feet, with an initial speed?
120 feet per second. What is the maximum height, in feet, the ball is going to happen? How can I do this?
Problem of course! But you would not able to use SI units? Well, * Huff SI units should always be used, but they were not the answer -> 226 ft. How find it .... Given values: Vo = 120 ft / s = g 2 'Yo = 32.174 m / s ^ 2 θ ° = 90 We want to find the maximum altitude reached. First, find the time it takes to get there: Tr = Vo / g = Tr (120 ft / s) / (32,174 ft / s ^ 2) Tr = 3.73 s Now we can calculate the height H = Yo + Vo * Tr - 0.5 * g * Tr ^ 2 = H (2 ') + [(120 ft / s) * (3.73 s)] - [0.5 * (32.174 ft / s ^ 2) * (3.73 s) ^ 2] H = (2 pi) + [448 ft] - [(16.1 ft / s ^ 2) * (13.9 s ^ 2)] = H (450 ft) - [224 ft] H = 226 ft
