Can I Tie Dye a sports bra that is not cotton?

I am eager to Tie Dye a sports bra for my cheer tryouts Monday but I'm not sure if the dye will work on a nylon fabric or other fabric for that matter .. I also do not know what type of dye to buy ... I try to C9 by Champion Seamless Bra target. I am the blue dye.

It depends on the fiber content! It looks like the bra you have chosen is 94% nylon and 6% elastane. Spandex is a bit of a problem because it is sensitive to heat. Too much heat will cause it to lose its shape, this that would ruin the bra. Check the care label instructions and follow his warning to avoid this. Nylon can be dyed with acid dyes, or you can use a fabric paint, such as Dharma Pigment dyes. The problem with acid dyes is that they require heat. You can not apply acid stain in cool water and expect it adheres well. You will have to compromise between the need of your nylon for warmth and need your spandex to avoid the heat. Try using tap water to mix hot with your dye. Thus, although Rit is silent on this issue in their instructions, the dye will work much better on nylon if you add a little vinegar to the dye. Add 100 ml (about 2 / 5 cup) of vinegar to each gallon of water you use. Any use of dyes like RIT or Tintex is an easy way to buy an acid dye quite expensive because it contains a mixture of an acid dye that works on nylon and wool, with a direct dye that works on cotton, but washes nylon. The acid dye in this type of dye is not the wash-proof. You will need to pay close attention to hand wash your bra dyed separately in fresh water every time you wash. If you want to dye your bra nylon do not bleed as much in the laundry room, you can buy dye Lanaset mail.
