What is the procedure for a law firm that had served me with court to sue me?
I have to file a response written to the court and counsel. What is the next step in the process and I am better prepared? What's written response to say? Thank you for the collection ... what is the correct way to write a written response?
All your answer has to say is "I do should not this money because ......" Remember that all trials determine is if you actually owe money, then why you do not pay it if you do not have to be totally irrelevant. The only defense at a trial of collection agency is "I do not owe the money.". There are several reasons why debt may not be valid, even if you do not need once ... may be prescribed by a statute of limitations, the body can not have a license required in your state, they may not have met the State federal law or collections, etc. etc. etc. Whatever your defense is, however, must be given in your reply. You will not generally authorized to raise a defense at trial that you did not say in your reply. Richard
