Competition Nylon
What type of rope would be the best in a catapult?
I built a catapult last year for a competition in which I used nylon rope. Is there a type of rope that would have more tension when twisted.
The last thing you need is something that stretches. Nylon works OK, but it takes a permanent stretch and you need to re-tension it periodically. Polyester (not polypropylene) is better and not much more expensive. It has a lot less stretch than nylon and is nearly as strong. Catapult.com, a manufacturer of kits switched from nylon to polyester for that reason.
